Bruce George Crockett, 52, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015, in Newnan, Ga. He was born on Dec. 15, 1962, at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, to the late J.H. and Ruth Buckmiller Crockett. He was united in marriage to Devona Jarred on June 17, 1989, in Denton.
Mr. Crockett served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an aerospace maintenance superintendent for 23 1/2 years. He also received a bachelor's degree during his service time. After his military retirement, he went to work for Nucor-Yamato as an electrician, where he remained employed until his death. He attended the Denton Assembly of God Church. Everyone who knew him knew his love for his family and his dog, Lucy. He was a hard worker, loved going to the lake and loved making soap and jelly.
Survivors of Mr. Crockett include his wife, Devona; one son, Blake Crockett; one daughter, Natalie Crockett; two brothers, Larry Silseth, of North Dakota and David Crockett, of McKinney, Texas; three sisters, Deanna Kenyon, of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Brower, of Lucas, Texas, and Terri Daner, of Sarasota, Fla.; his best friend, Brady Roberts, of Canton, Texas, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Crockett were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at Crossroads Worship Center with Rev. Dale Ruddick officiating. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Wren, Kevin Holmes, Richard Shuberte, Preston Dunn, Michael Garrett, Gary Rabey and Kim Staggs.
Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
