Mary Elizabeth Damesworth, 53, of Steele died Friday, July 8, 2011 in Steele.
Born February 19, 1958 in Cairo, Ill., she is the daughter of the late Claude Moore and Ella Ivey Moore.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Cantrell; and two sisters, Helen Hargrove and Alice Brock.
Mary was united in marriage to Jimmy Damesworth on March 5, 1975 in Dyersburg, Tenn.
She worked for many years as a cook at the Lighthouse Ranch for Boys.
She was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Steele.
Mrs. Damesworth leaves her husband, Jimmy Damesworth, of Steele; one son, Rev. Jeremy Damesworth and Denise of Steele; one daughter, Amy Putman, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three brothers: Jim Cantrell of Dyersburg, Billy Cantrell of Tennessee and Leroy Cantrell of San Diego, Calif.; four sisters: Edna Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada, Margaret Climer of Dyersburg, Lawanda Hodges of Paducah, Ky., and Brenda Brock of North Carolina; and five grandchildren: Caylie, Logan, and Gracie Damesworth and Joshua and Brittany Putman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Damesworth were held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 11, at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Steele with Rev. Randall Garcia officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Adrian Hargrove Jr., Joe Sawyer, Sonny Murphy, Steve Scott, Billy Joe Hanock and Michael Carroll.
Honorary pallbearers were Steve Carroll, Paul Clark, Johnny Pierce and Jamie Hargrove.
