Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God Church in Steele Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Mrs. Esther Lee Stanfield who died at the home there on Saturday, June 24, at the age of 74. The Rev. Mr. Pinckley conducted the service and interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, with LaForge Undertaking Company in charge.
Mrs. Stanfield is survived by six daughters; Mdmes. R.S. Reynolds, Hattie Cook, Leslie Taylor, and Lester Travis, all of Steele, Mrs. P.K. Hollinshed of Hayti and Mrs. Ada Webster of San Diego, Calif.; three sons, James Stanfield of Painter, Missouri, Lawrence Stanfield of Detroit, Mich., and William Stanfield of Steele; and one sister, Mrs. Betty Snodgrass of Savannah, Tennessee.

Elijah A. Stanfield, 66, died at his home in this city Friday, May 8, 1938 after an illness of high blood pressure. The Stanfield family had been residents of this community for many years. Until his retirement a few years ago he had engaged in farming. Mr. Stanfield was a native of Wayne County, Tenn., and was born May 8, 1872.

Funeral services were conducted from the home Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. W. Cunningham, pastor of the Baptist Church. Burial was made in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Esther Stanfield, seven daughters, Mrs. Sadie Reynolds, Mrs. Hattie Garrett, Mrs. Eller Hollinshead, Mrs. Ada Webster, Mrs. Lestie Taylor, Miss Vestie Stanfield, Miss Bernice Stanfield, two sons, Willie Stanfield and James Stanfield, also about 20 grandchildren.
