Charles Austin King, 80, of Steele, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at the National Health Care in Kennett. He was born on Wednesday, March 12, 1919, in Denton, the son of the late Charlie King and Lou Etta (Lookingbee) King.
King was widowed by Lillian (Flood) King. He was a carpenter and an Army veteran. He was a member of the Assembly of God in Denton.
Survivors include three sons, Charles King, Jr., of Rolla, Sammuy Don King of Warrensburg, and Gary King of Steele; a sister, Lillian Haley of Kennett; and two brothers, Parker King of Rockford, Ill.; and David King of Hector, Ark.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services were held at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Steele on Monday, May 10, 1999, 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold Tackitt officiating. Interment was held at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.

Mrs. Lillian Flood King, 66, of Steele,died April 3, 1989, at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis. Born July 26,1922 in Pemiscot County, she was the daughter of Wallace Wilford and Lydia Jane Northcutt Flood. A housewife, she was a member of Denton Assembly of God.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Austin King of Steele; Four sons, Charles Austin King Jr. and Sammy Don King, both of Rolla; Kenny Lynn King of Cardwell and Gary Dennis King of Steele; One brother, Wallace Flood of Steele; Two sisters, Mrs. Helen Frances Culp and Mrs. Burman Morton, both of Steele; and seven grandchildren.

One brother, Clell Flood, preceded her in death.

Services are today (Thursday, April 6) at 3 p.m. at German-Aumon Funeral Home chapel in Steele, the Rev. Joe Sellers and the Rev. Gerald Moss officiating, with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery.
