J.R. (Dick) Dillard was born Dec. 14, 1901, at Mooring, Tenn., and died May 6, 1977, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was 75.
Mr. Dillard, a retired farmer, was the son of the late Travis Owen Dillard and Dora Russell Dillard.
He was united in marriage to Maude Guess at Mooring, Tn. November 25, 1922.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Maude Dillard of Steele; two sons, Hugh Maurice (Dippy) Dillard of Atlanta, Ga.; and Jerry Dillard of Pine Bluff, Ark. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Yanna Lamb of Jacksonville, Ark.; a brother, Bernard Dillard of Tiptonville, Tn.; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Wilson of Braggadocio, Mo. and Mrs. Sallie Maddox of Ridgley, Tn. He also leaves six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Rev. Pete Soens officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. John W. German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Maude Dillard, 87, died Thursday, February 1, 1990, at the Rose Care Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Ark.

Daughter of the late Shirley Guess and Annie Wolford Guess, she was born December 18, 1902, at Newbern, Tenn.

She was united in marriage to John R. Dillard November 25, 1922 at Mooring, Tenn. He preceded her in death May 6, 1977.

A member of the Methodist Chruch, she was a mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Dillard leaves two sons: Hugh Maurice Dillard of Marietta, Ga. and Jerry Dillard of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one daughter, Mrs. Yanna Lamb, of Jacksonville; two sisters: Mrs. Barrett Holt of East St. Louis, Ill.; and Mrs. Clodeth Pery of Steele, Mo.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchilden.

Rev. Tom Zych officiated at funeral services Saturday, February 3, 1990, at 10:00 a.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele.

Burial was at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Jack Crawford, Tom Allbritton, Gene Reams, Gene Wingfield, Bussy Wells, and Luke Howell.
