John Quince Davis of Cooter died March 31, 1960.
Mr. Davis was born in Hickman County, Kentucky on March 26, 1902 and was 58 years and 5 days of age at the time of his death. A member of Cooter Baptist Church, he had lived in the Cooter community for the past 38 years. For several years he was mail carrier and in recent years owned and operated a store at Cooter.
Funeral services were held at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter Saturday, April 2, 1960 at 2;00 p.m. The pastor, Rev. W.E. Hall officiated. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Jack Maclin, Gus Cooper, Clarence Pollard, J.C. Reid, Dolan Pritchard and Broadus Presser. Honorary pallbearers were D.B. Holly, Walter Holly, T.B. Perry, W.O. Kearney, and Lewis Lester.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lula Mae Davis; and one son, Joe Neil Davis, both of Cooter; two daughters, Mrs. Imogene Byassee of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Mrs. Gearline Duncan of Chicago; five grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Davis of Bragg City and Rod Davis of St. Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Ivy Stone, Blytheville, and Mrs. Abie Horton of Rayville, Louisiana.

Lula Mae Davis, 94, of Cooter, Mo., died Monday, March 12, 2001 in Blytheville, Ark.
Born October 11, 1906 in Cooter, she was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter.
Lula Mae was united in marriage to John Quincy Davis in March of 1922. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Davis leaves one son, Joe Neil Davis, of Muscle Shoals, Ala.;
Two daughters: Gearlene Duncan of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Imogene Byassee of Houston, Tex.;
One brother, J.W. Neil, of Cooter;
One sister, Wilma Alford, of Sikeston;
Six grandchildren; and
Thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter with Bro. Dave Lewelling officating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Jerry Duncan, Mike Duncan, Charles Duncan, Brian Duncan, Greg Davis, and Lee Byassee.
