James Earl Jarrett, 80, of Blytheville, Ark., died Friday, April 9, 2004 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born July 2, 1923 in Savannah, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry Everett and Virginia East Jarrett.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Charlie Arvel Jarrett and Thomas Dward Jarrett; one sister, Agnes Black; and one grandson, Rex Alan Lowery.
He was a retired auto parts store manager and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Adventure Sunday School Class and the Methodist Men.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Philippines during World War II in the 836 Aviation Engineers, Company C.
He received his Honorable Discharge on December 5, 1948 and was a 57-year member of the American Legion.
Mr. Jarrett leaves his wife, Nettie Lynn Jarrett, of Blytheville; two daughters: Brenda Jarrett Clark of Blytheville and Sandra Lyn Jarrett of Jonesboro, Ark.; one brother, Everett Jarrett of Adamsville, Tenn.; three grandchildren: Steven Earl Pritchett and April Lynn Goza, both of Bay, Ark., and David Wayne Pritchett of Blytheville; four great-grandchildren: Austin Drew Sartin, Andrea Nicole Goza, Steven Tyler Pritchett and Joshua Alan Goza.
Funeral services for Mr. Jarrett were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Pam Estes and Kelly Craft officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville in charge.
