EXETER, Mo. _ Hershel Birkes, 76, Exeter, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at a Joplin nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Birkes was born Sept. 7, 1921, in the Ridgley community near Exeter. He was a lifelong Exeter-area resident. He was a self-employed farmer and cattleman. He was a member of Ridgley Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Springer, Marionville and Lora Embrey, Appleton City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Wheaton Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Harrison and the Rev. Danny Heuple will officiate. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Ridgley.
