Christopher Patrick Steele was born in Cabool, MO on March 17, 1955 to Christine and Harry Steele. He passed away on January 23, 2017 while at Willow Care Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for nine days.
Pat was a graduate of Willow Springs High School, class of 1973. Former members of the Willow Springs Country Club will remember him as a life guard during his high school summers.
Pat was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served in the dental and medical departments; although, his lifelong occupation was in the wholesale floral business in San Antonio , Texas until his illness forced him to retire.
His best friend said, “Patrick was always a shoulder to lean on when needed. He was a fine man who always had a pleasant, cheerful calmness about him, even when his health issues presented him with new and continuous challenges. I never heard him express other than a positive response when asked about his well-being or general state, which showed his strength of character.”
Patrick was preceded in death by his father, H.B. Steele, Jr.; brothers, H.B. Steele, III; and David Steele.
Survivors are his mother, Christine, of Willow Springs; his friend and caregiver, Ann Taylor; brothers, Steve and wife, Sandra of Springfield, MO; Tom and wife, Cathi of Cherry Hill, N.J.; sister, Margaret Susan Hickerson and husband Dan of Kennan, WI.; companion and caregiver, Patricia Smith of Buffalo, N.Y., and best friend Daniel Kleinfelter of San Antonio, TX. He is further survived by many cousins.
A Funeral Mass for Christopher will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a luncheon held afterwards in the Hall. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
