Roy "Cotton" Colbert was born August 8, 1917, in Paragould, Ark. He died February 5, 1985, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn, at 67.

Mr. Colbert owned and operated Colbert's Grocery in Denton.

A veteran of World War II, he served in Normandy, North France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe where he was awarded five Bronze Stars for the above campaigns.

He was married to Allie Tate in Helena, Ark.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 7, 1985 at 2 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Bro. Ken Yates officiating.

Mr. Colbert leaves his wife, Mrs. Allie Colbert, of Steele; four step-sons, A.D. Tate of Steele; Jimmy Tate of Greenwood, Miss.; Charles Tate of Ripley, Tenn.; and Bobby Tate of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Helen Jarrett, of Steele; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Roman Driskill, Leonard Poteet, Clarence Poteet, Bynum Hester, Carlos Neal and Merlon Barnard.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
