Funeral services for Royal B. (Sonny) Weaver of Clarksdale, Mississippi, were held Monday, April 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Steele. Mr. Marlin Anderson and Mr. Steven Murrell officiated.
Mr. Weaver was born July 19, 1922, in Steele and died April 16, 1983, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was 60.
He and his family were former residents of Steele before moving to Clarksdale 15 years ago. Mr. Weaver was a painting contractor, working with his son, Dennis. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Clarksdale.
The son of the late Roy Weaver and Lella McCollum Weaver, he was united in marriage to Clara Nell Allen in Portageville March 26, 1939. One sister, Mrs. Gaynell Erwin, preceded him in death.
Mr. Weaver leaves his wife, Mrs. Clara Nell Weaver of Clarksdale; One son, Dennis Weaver of Clarksdale; One daughter, Mrs. Judy Holly of Holland; One sister, Mrs. Hazel Weaver of Blytheville; One brother, Byron Weaver of Vero Beach, Forida; Two grandsons, Joe Byron Holly, III, of Holland and Dennis Shane Weaver of Clarksdale; Two granddaughters, Mrs. Tracy Maness of Longview, Texas, and Amy Shannon Weaver of Clarksdale; and One great-granddaughter, Betty Jo Maness of Longview.
Active pallbearers were Max Craddock, Home Ledford, Chester Barnes, W.D. Whitfield, Clarence Poteet, and C.J. Oliver.
Honorary pallbearers were Quentin Still, Clarence McCollum, Paul Cooper, Gene Wingfield, David Whitfield, Kelly Joe Rhodes, Howard McCollum, Hobert Wells, Jr., and Clyde Southern.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Clara Nell Weaver, 89, of Clarksdale, Miss., formerly of Steele, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Oct. 15, 1921 in Hydro, Tenn., she is the daughter of the late William L. Allen and Jean Morris Allen.
She attended Steele Public School and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Clara was united in marriage to Royal (Sonny) Weaver in 1937. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksdale.
Mrs. Weaver leaves one daughter, Judith Jean Weaver Holly and her husband Joe Byron Holly II of Holland; One son, Dennis Roy Weaver and wife Janice, of Clarksdale; Grandchildren: Betty Jo Christinsen and husband Andrew, Ashley Dawn Romero and husband Steven, Joe Byron Holly III, Amy Shannon and husband Kevin, Dennis Shane Weaver and wife Tiffney; Great-grandsons: Joseph and Carter Weaver and Harrison Ragon; and Great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Ragon.
Funeral services for Mrs. Weaver were held Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Bro. John Dunavant officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Byron Holly III, Steven Romero, Shane Weaver, Kevin Ragon, Denny Weaver and Bryon Holly II.
