Joe Reed Andrus, 72, Route 1, Marionville, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 1996, in his home, where he lived for 35 years. Joe was born March 19, 1924, in Elsey, Missouri, the son of Walter and Ethel "Curbow" Andrus. Mr. Andrus was a member of the Scholton Church of Christ and a Navy Veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He had served two terms as Northern Commissioner in Stone County and six years as Secretary, Treasurer of the Stone County Soil Water Commission. He was formerly a license examiner with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and a Security Guard for Zenith Corporation for 11 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eva; a son, Bon Reed of Hurley; a daughter, Eva Jo Jackson of Hurley; a brother, Ted R. of Monett; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 17, 1996, in the Scholton Church of Christ with Pastor Art Voyles officiating. Burial was in Short Cemetery, Hurley under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Clever. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice, Branson, in care of the funeral home.
