BOBBY J. "Bob" Dean, 69, Nixa, Mo., died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov.8, 1997 in his home following a short illness. He retired after 27 years from Dayco Corporation. He also had worked for Diversified Plastics Corporation, Nixa for seven years, Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed all sports. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, member of College Street Baptist Church and Show Me Dune Buggy Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elsie Dean, a sister, Wanda Hick, and a brother, Donald Dean
He is survived by his wife, Vesta; a son, Robert J. Dean; a daughter and her husband, Kathy and John Williams, all of Nixa; six grandchildren, Travis Dean, Shannon Dean, Bryan Williams, Casey Dean, Grant Williams, Sarah Williams, ; a great-grandson, Tyler Dean; four brothers, Edwin Dean and /Freddie Dean, both of Hurley, Jerry Dean, Marionville, Paul Dean, Republic; two sisters, Betty Giles, Peoria, Ill., Mary Jeanette Norvell, Purdy; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Eugene and Elda Kelly, Don and Gloria Sue Brown, Joe and Linda Brown and George and Carol Sue Brown; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, in Meadors Chapel, Republic, with the Rev. Larry Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Short Cemetery, Hurley, under directions of Meadors Funeral Home Republic.
The chapel will be open Monday morning with visitation from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Missouri.
Vesta Marie Dean, 79, Nixa, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was born January 8, 1928 in Clever, MO, to Nubern S. and Emma M. (Points) Brown.
She was united in marriage to Bob Dean November 21, 1951. They were blessed with 2 children, Robert "Bob" and Kathy.
Vesta was a homemaker and a seamstress. Her family, especially her grandchildren were the top priority in her life. Vesta was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Highlandville, and a founding member of the quilting guild in Springfield. She loved to dance and travel.
Her husband, Bob, parents, and two brothers, Grover Brown and Jimmy Brown preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two children, Bob Dean and wife, Geneva, Ozark, and Kathy Hill and husband, Kent, Battlefield; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister Elda Kelley and husband, Eugene, Aurora; three brothers and their wives, Don and Gloria Sue Brown, Aurora, Joe and Linda Brown, Springfield, and George and Carol Sue Brown, Aurora; four brothers-in-law, Edwin Dean and Freddie Dean, both of Hurley, Jerry Dean, Cape Fair, and Paul Dean, Republic; two sisters-in-law, Betty Giles, Peoria, IL and Mary Jeanette Norvell, Purdy; nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist church in Highlandville with Pastor Rick Washam officiating under direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will follow in Short Cemetery, Hurley. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
