She was born in Indiana, and was raised in Indiana and the Phoenix, Arizona area. After graduating from high school, she worked as a nurse’s aide for awhile before moving to Missouri. She and Robert owned a trucking business while she went to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She began her nursing career working in an after-hours clinic in Rolla, Missouri. Patty and Robert were lovingly raising their own three children during this time and also cared for foster children. Over the years, they had welcomed over three hundred children in their home while living in the Laquey area. After moving to Lebanon, Patty began working as a floor nurse and as head surgical nurse at Mercy Hospital and continued her nursing career for over twenty years, stopping less than a year ago. She had also worked at the Curry Cancer Center.
Patty had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon. She was active in the church music program, was a member of the choir and also played the piano. Her deep abiding faith in God was always at the center of her life and she lived her faith daily.
Her family, especially her grandchildren, was the source of great joy to her and she had learned to enjoy being at home. She was a very caring person who maintained a positive attitude even in the worst of situations. Her faith and her family were her driving passion and she cherished each day.
Patty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her devotion to family, her compassionate approach to nursing, and her zest for life. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched. holmanhowe.com
