Wanda Mae Martin Parsons Marley, 83, passed into God's arms Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, and now rests peacefully and eternally in His presence and love. The Rev. Vicki Evans will officiate the funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at the Waldensian United Presbyterian Church in Monett, Mo. Interment will be in the Waldensian Cemetery.

Wanda was born in Joes, Colo., to the late Blunt Hervy Martin and Cecile Arnaud Martin Schoy, and graduated from Muskogee High School in Oklahoma. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Baylor University in Waco. She worked as a teacher, but primarily devoted her life to bringing up her six children and menagerie of pets. Wanda's family remembers their beloved mother and grandmother as God's beautiful child blessed with multiple talents, among them an amazing poetic/storytelling ability, keen dramatic talent, superb culinary skills, and innate creativity. In her extraordinary creative and intuitive manner, some of her most memorable maternal attributes were revealed, which include her facilitation of exposure to all of life's finest for her children, always wanting the best for them culturally, academically, and spiritually. Wanda possessed an abundance of other talents and traits, many of which she was so well-known and loved for, but some of which she was never able to actualize.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Elaine Martin; maternal grandparents, Emile Arnaud and Pauline Barriquand Arnaud; and paternal grandparents, Robert Bruce Martin and Maggie McPherson-Martin Gammon.

Survivors include her six children and 14 grandchildren: a son, Robert Franklin "Frank" Parsons II and his wife, Cindy; Jo Cecille Parsons Demarest and her son, David; Glenna Faye Marley-Fleming and her daughters, Kelley, Kristin and Kaitlin; Danna Marie Marley Alsamarray, her husband, Adnan and their children, Lamise and Layth; Virginia "Ginny" Sue Marley Elkhalid, her husband, Kasem and their children, Hamoody, Amnee, Jenneen, Samer and Sereen; Christi Ann Marley Baughman and her children, Daniel, Gabriel and Rachel; sisters, Mary Ellen Martin and Jayne Boyce; eight cousins; and many other loving family members and friends.
