He received a master's degree in psychology from the Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and was a U.S. Army veteran. Doane moved to Joplin two years ago from Bella Vista, Arkansas, and was a quality control manager at Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc in Joplin.
