Richard "Dick" Ray Eding, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains due to natural causes. Born October 2, 1939 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Raymond Albert and Marjorie Lucille (Mickey) Eding, he was 78 years old.
After attending the first two years of school in Kirkwood, MO he spent the balance of his school years in Willow Springs and graduated from Willow Springs High School. On March 6, 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country and was honorably discharged on March 5, 1965. He was married to Ella M. Harris on April 18, 1966 in Miami, OK and to this union two children were born. Dick was employed at the Missouri Department of Transportation, beginning as a surveyor and later in the maintenance department, working his way up to the position of Maintenance Supervisor. He spent 39 years with MoDot before retiring on July 1, 2000. He had many enjoyments in life. He was often seen at the local Sonic Drive-Ins mowing the lawns. He also enjoyed drinking coffee at the truck stop with his buddies. It was said that he loved to travel, but his favorite past-time was watching his grandchildren play ball. Dick and Ella were long time members of Trinity Baptist Church, but recently attended the Genesis Church in West Plains. Dick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; his daughter, Teresa Johnson and her husband, Terry; his son, Raymond Eding, a sister, Diane Hansen and her husband, Greg, all of West Plains; two brothers, Jay Eding and his wife, Joy of Plainfield, IN; and David Eding and his wife, Nancy of St. Louis. Further survivors include grandchildren: Tiffany Atkisson, Seth Johnson and his wife, Mallory and Anthony, Trenton, and Dawson Eding all of West Plains; great-grandchildren: McKaala Harris, Haddlee Atkisson, and Addie Sanders, also all of West Plains. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mr. Eding will be held Friday, June 1st, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Willow Funeral Home with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dennis McGinnley officiating. Interment will follow at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona, MO with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
