Doyn W. Upton, 93, passed from this life on March 2, 2019 at the Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, MO.
He was born October 25, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Odes K. & Doshia (Webster) Upton. A 1941 graduate of Gainesville High School, he went on to serve in the United States Navy for three years. He was a WWII veteran that served on the USS Lunga Point.
After his service Doyn was married to Tansy Hargis on February 25, 1947, to this union two children were born, Jack and Janene. In February of this year they celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
In the late 50’s he worked in a foundry, making patterns for oil rigs in Tulsa, OK. Then in the early 60’s the family moved to Ava, MO. In 1982 Doyn retired as manager from Town & Country supermarket in Cabool, MO. After retirement Doyn and Tansy had a farm in Cabool, then later moved to West Plains, MO. In 2010 they decided to move back to Cabool, MO to be closer to their family.
Doyn enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, gardening and many outdoors projects.
He is survived by his wife, Tansy; his son, Jack and wife, Tracy of Dauphin Island, Alabama; his daughter, Janene Thompson and husband, Randy of Cabool, MO; a grandson, Jason C. Thompson and wife, Tammy of Springfield, MO; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Daman Thompson; two brothers, Bobby Upton and wife, Irene of Independence, MO and Ned Upton and wife, Dorothy of Isabella, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Gene) and two sisters (Grace and Elouise). [egcfuneralhome.com]
