"He died on Monday, Aug. 8, 1898, at his residence near Pure Air, Mr. William Bozarth, of this city. Mr. Bozarth was a well known and universally respected citizen, coming to this county in 1831. His funeral on Tuesday was the largest in that part of the country for years" Kirksville Journal, Kirksville, Missouri, August 11, 1898
In 1889 a group of some 400 people joined together at the Kirksville Fairgrounds to attend the "Old Settler's Reunion" of Adair County, Missouri. Each signed the register with their birth date, place of birth and date they settled in Adair County, MO. He wrote William Bozarth 6/24/1825 Howard Co., MO. 1831
