Willie Dale Burke, 83 of Cabool, MO passed away on September 5, 2018 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born on April 25, 1935 in the Beech Corner Community near Senath, MO the son of William L. and Pearl Burke
He attended Caruth High School where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball, baseball and he excelled in track where he had many state medals to show for his efforts. Willie joined the US Airforce in 1957 and served his country for four years; one year he was stationed in Korea.
Willie was united in marriage to Retta Benson on July 11, 1959 and to this union two children were born, Marty and Wendy. He joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Oct. 1, 1965 and proudly served until retirement on September 1, 1993. He was a lifelong Cardinals fan and loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and taking care of his lawn. At the time of his passing he was a member of the Cabool Second Baptist Church.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Burke. He is survived by his wife, Retta of the home; son, Marty and wife, Donna; daughter, Wendy Inman and husband, Jeff; brother, Don E. Burke and wife, Sara of Kennett, MO; grandchildren, Melissa, Maegan, Mandi, Nathan, Jessica, Cullen, Patrick, Andrew, Bryan and Kevin as well as several great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him, he was loved by many. [egcfuneralhome.com]
