"Mr. Lantz was born in Strausburg, France, on 10 Mar 1821, came to the United States in 1834 and settled in Fairfield County, Ohio, where he resided until 1855 when he moved to Missouri. He was born and raised a Lutheran, was well known as a good citizen and an honest man, keeping his promises with his fellow men. By his economy and frugality, he succeeded in leaving a good home for his family. Mr. Lantz had been married twice. His first wife, Mary Lantz (nee Morgan) died in Ohio. His second wife survives him together with nine children, ten living grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted from the Baptist Church in Millard by Rev. Ray Palmer, in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing friends."
