Arthur Elkins, 80, of Cooter, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, Ark.
Born Dec. 23, 1925 in Omar, W. Va., he was the son of the late Millard and Grace Jones Steele Elkins.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie Steele and Texal Steele, one sister, Winnie Hicks and one daughter, Angela Thompson, Snowball, Skipper and Pepi.
He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Elkins leaves his wife of 19 years, Geneva Elkins, of the home; Three sons: Bobby Elkins and his wife Sherrill of Athens, Ga., Bryan Elkins and his wife Sheila of Beebe, Ark., and Jeffrey Snow of Charleston, S.C.; Five daughters: Sandra Handley of Norristown, Pa., Regina Westmoreland and her husband Mark of Virginia Beach, Va., Diane Holbert and her husband Ronnie of Raceland, La.; Pamela Jestus and her husband Davis of Kennett and Melinda Miller of Beebe; One brother, Paul Elkins and his wife Evelyn, of Tampa, Fla.; One sister, Florence McAllister and her husband Melvin, of Anderson, S.C., Twenty-six grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and Misty, Prince, Bobo and Frisky.
Funeral services for Mr. Elkins were held at 12 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating.
Burial was at the Number Eight Cemetery in Cooter with Powell Funeral Home in charge of services.
