Herschel Todd Montgomery, 23, of Oakland, Illinois, formerly of the Bethel Community, was killed in a truck accident Monday morning June 2, 1986 at Champaign, Illinois.
Born November 7, 1962 in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of Jim and Sharon Osburn Montgomery. The family resided in the Oakland, Illinois community where Todd attended school. At the age of 12, he moved with his parents to the Bethel Community. Todd was a 1981 graduate of the Brashear High School and attended Northeast Missouri State University, majoring in Agri-Business. Before moving to Oaklan, Illinois, he was employed as a farm laborer in this area. At the time of his death he was employed with the Joe McCoskey Trucking Company, Oakland, Illinois.
He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents of Route 2, Greentop; three brothers, Jeff Montgomery of Route 2, Kirksville, Gene Montgomery of Oakland, Illinois and Jim Montgomery of Breckenridge, Colorado; two sisters, Monica March of Queen City and Sonya Clark of Hurdland; grandparents Herschel and Grace Osburn of Oakland, Illinois; uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
After noon Friday June 6, 1986 the body will be at the Bethel Community Church where funeral services will be held at two o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in the Wilmathsville cemetery under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home.
The casket will be closed and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Casket bearers will be Alan Clark, Russ Maxey, Todd Hill, Eric Wheeler, Danny Clark, Rodney Harper, Rob Lee and Mark House.
