A sad accident happened here Sunday while the boys were playing ball. Harry Sweet was at the bat when a ball from the pitcher struck the side of his head knocking him down. He got up and tried to continue playing but not feeling well he drove his team home and got worse until he lost consciousness and died Monday about 4 p.m. He leaves a wife and two little daughters and a lot of relatives and friends to mourn his death.

Harry Sweet, of near Wilmathville [sic], was struck by a base ball Sunday, on the head; he is in a serious condition as he is unconcious [sic]. This should be a lesson to all on Sunday base ball playing.

Harry Sweet died this afternoon (Monday) about half past five. It is quite a shock to his relatives and friends. The Drs. performed an operation; his skull was cracked and they took the clotted blood off his brain. He remained unconcious [sic] after he reached home. All he was able to say after being hurt was that he wanted to go home and that there was something he wanted to tell them but could not.
