Lucy L. Young, daughter of Wiley Lee and Lucy Ann (Tice) Young, was born July 10, 1908, in Greentop, and died Sunday, June 2, 1991, in a Kirksville, Mo., nursing home at the age of 82 years.
Surviving are one brother, John E. Young, Waterloo, Ia.; five nieces, Margaret L. Willasson, Cedar Rapids, Ia., Esther Goodwin, Kirksville, Mo., Mary Jane Welsh, Kirksville, Mo., Sue Wright, Glenside, Pa., and Janet F. Webster, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; eight great-nieces; and five great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, James F. Young, George Leland Young, Fred T. Young, and Charles W. Young.
Miss Young was reared in Greentop and graduated from high school there in 1927. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College for two years, and worked in Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Nursery for many years.
She had been a member of Greentop United Methodist Church since she was 13 years old. She was a member of Emerald Ray Chapter #158, OES, Greentop.
Services were held Tuesday, June 4, 1991, in Greentop United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Rowland officiating. Music was provided by Phil Baker, soloist, and Dianthe Cable, pianist. Special selections were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."
Bearers were David Welsh, Danny Welsh, Jim Welsh, Eldred Palmer, Joe Western, and Bobby Crawford.
Burial was in Greentop Cemetery.
