Mrs. Etta Mae Buys was born May 16, 1905 at Portageville, Missouri and died January 25, 1987 in the Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She was 81.
Mrs. Buys was a retired owner of a florist shop and a grocery store in Gainesville.
She was the daughter of the late Edward V. Chappell and Dora Crowley Chappell, and the widow of Edgar Buys. She was a member of the 39th Avenue Church of Christ in Gainesville.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Helen Jerline Martin of Gainesville; a brother, Willie C. Toon of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Brown of Steele, Missouri; and three brothers-in-law, Tom Buys of Steele, Boyd Buys of Kennett, Missouri; and Earl Buys of Delphor, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 28, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Steele with Kenneth and Gary Martin (grandsons) officiating.
Burial was in the Number Eight Cemetery near Cooter, Missouri with John W German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were John Brown, Greg Buys, Travis Martin, Mike Underwood, Charles Chappell, and David Whitfield.
