Son of Thomas Goodson and Sophia Spencer Poage
Dr. James F. Poage died at his apartments, 119 East Harrison street at an early hour Wednesday morning after a six weeks illness of intestinal trouble, aged 60 years. Dr. Poage was born in Macon county, and came to Kirksville 25 years ago. He was a graduate of the American School of Osteopathy, but retired from active practice 12 years ago and had since been engaged in the piano business. He had been married twice, both his wives having preceeded [sic] him in death. To the first union a daughter was born., Miss Florence Poage, who lives with her aunt, Mrs. W.S. Warren of Memphis. Besides his daughter, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fannie Daugherty, of LaPlata, one half sister, Mrs. J. Baldwin of Delta, Colo., and two half brothers, T.M. Belshe, of LaPlata, and Robert Poage of Perry, Mo. Mrs. J D. Forsythe, deceased, was a sister. The funeral took place from the Davis and Wilson funeral chapel at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Ward M. Baker. Burial in Forest Park cemetery.
