Maymie E. (Morton) Spencer, 102, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, (December 5, 2017) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

Born July 26, 1915 in Worthington, Missouri, Maymie was born the youngest of four girls and the daughter of Harvie Daniel and Nancy J. (Hogg) Morton. Maymie was united in marriage to Willis Spencer on June 20, 1931 in Bloomfield, Iowa, who preceded her in death on February 18, 1996. She was also preceded in death by two children, Diane McCloud and Douglas Spencer; three sisters, Alta Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Hiatt, and Deloris Little; and one great-grandson, Aaron Bell.

Maymie is survived by eight grandchildren, Brenda Smith, Melinda Knapp, Ronald McCloud, Pam Stephens, Kenny McCloud, Twila Spencer, Terresa Bell and husband Dale, and Danny Spencer and wife Laura; twenty great-grandchildren; twenty-three great great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Maymie and her husband Willis built a home on Highway 11 in 1958 where they lived their entire life until Willis's passing at which time she sold the home and acreage and moved into Kirksville, and lived next door to her sister Deloris Little. Maymie and Willis owned and operated Spencer's Studio on north Elson in Kirksville, for thirty plus years until retiring. Maymie then worked part time at Betty's Boutique and Moselle's Fashion.

Maymie started volunteering at Twin Pines Adult Care Center coming as part of the group who put on a Bible Study program from her church, (Hamilton Street Baptist Church). She was also a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Maymie began living at Twin Pines as a resident in December of 2009, where she enjoyed Bible Study, exercise programs, music, parties and spending time outdoors.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 with family receiving friends for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO. The service will be officiated by Pastor Terry Hunsaker. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Jones, Tanner McClanahan, Dale Bell, Dakota Bell, Derrick Spencer, and Danny Spencer.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Maymie Spencer may be made to Highland Park Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
