THOMAS J. WALKER was born in Campbell County, near Louisville, Kentucky, June 5, 1841. He was married April 1, 1969, to Sarah A. Adams, daughter of Robert and Nancy (Oxier) Adams. She was born in Adams County, Ohio, May 20, 1837. They have three children: Luella F., born January 17, 1872, now Mrs. V.M. Wolf; Anna L., December 14, 1874, now Mrs. Cole Lewis; Albert H., March 13, 1877, married Margaret Curry of Illinois.
Mr. Walker moved to Ohio with his parents, Ellis and Margaret (Fleak) Walker, when only about one year old. He lived there till grown, then came to Adair Co., Missouri, in 1869. He enlisted in Company I, 39th Ohio Infantry, serving three years. He was severely wounded in a battle, near Atlanta, Georgia, the day of his discharge July 4, 1864. He returned to Ohio, remaining till 1869, then came to Scotland County Missouri. In 1877 he moved to Kansas, then came to Adair County in 1882. He has lived here since that time. He owns a place at Bullion, but for years has not been able to work on account of injuries received during the war. He is a member of the G.A.R., Corporal Dix Post, No. 22, at Kirksville.

Thomas J. Walker's Funeral Held Today
The funeral for Thomas J. Walker, who died Saturday night, was held at the Summers & Taylor undertaking parlors this afternoon. Interment is being made in the Highland Park cemetery. Mr. Walker would have been 85 years old next Friday. He served in the Union Army in the Civil War, being in the Thirty-Ninth Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Some time ago he served as postmaster at Bullion.
Mr. Walker had been in failing health and had suffered considerably for the past nineteen months. He died as a result of a paralytic stroke which he suffered about two weeks ago.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his first wife about four or five years ago, and was married again about two years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Anna, who lives in the state of Washington, and Mrs. Uella Wolf, of Portland, Oregon; and one son, Albert, of Fulton, Ill.
