IN MEMORY OF FATHER McCLOSKEY
Peter McCloskey was born in Pennsylvania in 1831, and died near Gibbs, Missouri on June 5, 1913, aged 82 years. In early life he came to Iowa, where he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Boyce. To this union five children were born, Nancy M., Monroe, Iva, Urvin, and Martin.
This union being broken by death, he was later united with Miss Susan Garlock who was his companion for a number of years. But on Aug. 15, 1909, death again entered the home and left him without a companion.
On Sept. 21, 1910 he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Maggie Williams of Youngstown, Missouri, who proved a faithful wife, and did what she could to relieve his suffering until death came. He was known as a quiet, peaceable man, a good neighbor, and a kind father to his children, who have all preceded him, and we trust will greet him in the heavenly land. He was a member of the Radical United Brethren Church, and for years held his membership at Prairie Bird chapel. He believed in experimental salvation and had many times expressed himself as being a child of God. He leaves a wife, four step-children, and five grandchildren to mourn their loss. May the bereft family look to Him who doeth all things well, and who said, "I am the way, the truth and the life".
The remains were laid to rest in the Prairie Bird Cemetery, with services by Rev. M.E. Garlock.
His death certificate is under McClosky, but there is little to no information other than his date of death and the informant was Henry Garlock.
