Christian County,
Missouri

9 Feb 1949 - 17 Jul 2013

Ronald Asbury, age 64 of Springfield, died July 17, 2013, in the KU Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. Ron was born on February 9, 1949, in Little Rock, Ark., to Ralph and Myrtle Asbury.
Ron graduated from historic Little Rock Central High and University of Arkansas L.R. Ron was an original "computer geek," studying computer programming while still in high school in the late '60s. He held a variety of computer jobs during his career. At the time of his death, he was a system analyst for Cargill Inc. in Wichita, Kan. Ron was an academic who valued knowledge and education. He was especially skilled at trivia.
Ron and his wife Ann were relentless travelers. They traveled in Europe, South and Central America, and across the United States, visiting 49 capitol buildings with only one more to go… Their love of new places was shared by their children and grandchildren. Oh the places they went, oh the memories they made. In addition to travel, Ron spent his time with his grandkids playing games, sharing books and holding many sleepovers that always included pancakes.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Diana.
Ron is survived by his wife, Ann; children: Jonathan Asbury and Kimberly Asbury; brothers and their wives: Olan and Jan Asbury and Dale and Nancy Asbury; mother-in-law, Barbara Bray; Ann's daughters and their spouses: Amanda and Clint Nurnberg and Regina and Billy Hower; grandchildren: Sam and Sophie Nurnberg and Will and Gemma Hower; his two nephews, nine nieces, and a vast extended family.
Burial at Linden Cemetery.
