Mr. Melvin Chester Coy, 63, of Pineville, Mo., departed this life Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., after a recent illness.
Melvin was born Feb. 2, 1947, in Colleyville, Kan., to the union of the late Dewey and Dorothy (Taylor) Coy. Throughout his life, he worked as a mechanic. He lived in Tulsa, Okla., for more than 20, where he was employed by Jim Crain Auto Salvage. In 1990, he moved his family to Pineville, Mo. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working under the hood of just about any automobile.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Kylie Rose Russell and Brittney Long; and an infant brother.
On June 15, 1983, he was united in marriage to Judy M. (Elkins) Coy and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include six daughters, Lynnette Womack of Pineville, Mo., Tonya Jaeger of Salt Lake City, Utah, Billie Mae Long of Pineville, Mo., Paula Jones of Pineville, Mo., Mandy Coy of Anderson, Mo., and Jennifer Coy of Noel, Mo.; two sons, Curtis Beatty of Chicago, Ill., and John Anderson of Bella Vista, Ark.; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Bourton of Cammen, Okla.; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Coy were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor David Munoz officiating. Burial followed in the Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers were Richard Searan, Chester Coy, Christopher Greer, Clint Russell, Cody Ellington and David Lakey. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Funeral home chapel. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website, www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
