Gary Lee Harrell, 62, of Granby, died Sept. 14, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following a short illness. Gary was born Oct. 4, 1951, in Wheaton, Missouri, the son of Mack and Selma (Newman) Harrell. Gary joined the U.S. Marine Corp in January 1970 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in December, 1974 as a Supply Sergeant. He was a lifelong area resident and a member of First Baptist Church in Butterfield, Missouri.
Gary is survived by a brother, Marvin Harrell, Rogersville; two sisters, Sue Brown and husband, Larry, Fairview and June Ballay, Monett; a brother-in-law, Leo Intessimone, Granby; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Harrell, and a sister, Shirlene Intessimone.
Graveside services will be Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chitwood Cemetery, Wheaton, Tony Intessimone will officiate. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby, on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Gary may be made to Granby House Activities Fund, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 26, Granby, MO 64844.
