Max Ray Dyck passed away on December 22, 2021 at the age of 73 after a three-year battle with cancer. Max took his disease one day at a time and remained optimistic until the time of his death.
Max was born on August 13, 1948 in Newton, Kansas. After high school, Max went to the Kansas City Art Institute for a period of time, but ultimately decided he would continue his work as an artist independently. Throughout his adulthood, Max worked as an independent computer programming consultant in Kansas City, MO. After retirement, he moved home to help care for his mother in West Plains, MO.
Max enjoyed mastering the art of Tai Chi. He was fascinated by the health benefits he achieved from his daily practices. Max also loved to paint and learn different painting techniques. He was in awe at how vivid colors were after his cataract surgery and spent his free time enhancing the colors of previous paintings and creating new masterpieces. He was a very talented artist who didn’t fully understand his gift.
Max was a faithful Kansas City Chiefs fan. He said he only watched the Chiefs so he could talk about the games with his friend, but he continued to watch and provide full reports on the Chiefs after the passing of his friend. Max was a storyteller and he enjoyed telling stories about his friends and life experiences. In his final years, he enjoyed spending time with his great niece Aliza, teasing her and making her laugh.
Max is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Helen Dyck and his sister Sandra Lee. He is survived by his brother Jay Dyck and wife Naomi of Willow Springs, Missouri and Bruce Dyck and wife Mary of Exeter, California, his nieces and nephews and their children, and several close friends.
