Carlyle Walker, a longtime resident of Willow Springs, MO passed away at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Born June 6, 1939 in Marshall, MO to Homer and Grace (Thomas) Walker, he was 83 years old.
Carlyle was baptized in 1951 and his love for God was a driving force all his life. After graduating from Marshall High school in 1957, his mother sent him to college “to find a piano-playing wife.” Carlyle earned his associate’s degree from Southwest Baptist College, where he also met Faye Brown, from Willow Springs. On August 30, 1958, Carlyle and Faye were married at First Baptist Church in Willow Springs. Carlyle found much purpose in his work as a farmer and trucker, but his greatest joy came from his family, and serving the Lord through music. Over the years Carlyle sang in gospel quartets, led worship for church and revivals, and directed choirs. For over 25 years he was a member of gospel group Sounds of His Coming and served Willow Springs First Baptist for many years as worship leader, choir director and deacon. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Grace and his infant brother, David.
A visitation will be held Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Willow Springs. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 15, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. also at the church with Pastor Joel Hinds officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Springs City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
