William "Billy Bird" Ray Owens, a resident of West Plains, passed away at Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, Missouri, on Saturday, February 4, 2023. He was born September 10, 1944, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Glen Melvin and Maude Marie (Stark) Owens and was 78 years old.
Bill lived with his folks until 1981, and then lived with his brother Dwayne and his wife Karen until being placed in the Newton's Group Homes. He was a Protestant and attended church with his family when he could. He loved to eat hamburgers and doughnuts. He also enjoyed playing jokes on people, and going on walks outside whenever he was able. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Maude; his sister, Glenda Dickenson; his brother, James Owens; his sister, Mary Joens; and his brother. Dwayne Owens.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Owens; his sisters-in-law: Vickie Owens, Rose Owens, and Karen Owens; brother-in-law, Bob Joens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that any donations or memorials be made out to the Endurance Church.
A family night/visitation will be held at Willow Funeral Home, LLC from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the Westside Family Life Center with Pastor David Lovan officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
