Dr. C. R. Brown, prominent Seligman doctor and civic leader, died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield last Wednesday afternoon. He had been a patient in the Springfield hospital for about two weeks.
Dr. Brown had been a resident of Seligman since 1934. He was a graduate of the Kansas City College of Osteopathy. He was a member of the Church of Brethren, and a member of the York Rite in Neosho and the Scottish Rite in Joplin.
He was a charter member of the Seligman Lions Club and was serving his second term as mayor of Seligman at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; a son, Lt. Charles Fawver Brown, who is stationed with the U. S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Beitlinger of Akron, Ohio, and Misses Elsie and Maggie Brown, both of Warren, Indiana; and four brothers, Elmer Brown of Phoenix, Arizona, Oscar Brown of Granville, Ohio, Everett Brown of Collins, Indiana, and Crasten Brown of Warren, Ind. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Culver Funeral Home in Cassville, with burial in the Seligman Cemetery.
