Dorena Former Dies; Last Rites Tomorrow
EAST PRAIRIE, June 1 — Funeral services for Bonnie Franklin Upchurch, 53, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Church of Christ at Dorena with the Rev. Jasper Hillard officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery with Shelby Service.
Mr. Upchurch, born Feb. 9, 1900 in Weakley County, Tennessee, died at 3 a.m. today at his home in Dorena after an illness of 14 months.
A member of the Church of Christ, he had farmed in Mississippi County for the past six years. Prior to that he resided in Lake County, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Upchurch; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Davis, of Bradley, Ill., and Mildred and Mary Helen, of the home, three sons, Tommie, of Dorena, and Dwight and Joe, of Toledo, Oh.; a mother, Mrs. Betty Upchurch, of Wardell; two sisters, Mrs. Tommie Pollack and Mrs. Mary Simms, both of Wardell; two brothers, Don, of Tiptonville, Tenn. and Miller, of Wardell.; and five grandchildren. His father, Charles W. Upchurch preceded him in death on Jan. 16.
The body will lie in state at the family residence at Dorena.
