ANDERSON, Mo. — Dennis Dwayne Buchanan, 63, of Anderson died Aug. 4, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., following a short battle with cancer. He was born on June 8, 1944 in Wichita, Kan., to Claude Leroy and Bertha Eva Buchanan.

He married Carol Jaquis on March 22, 1977, in Miami, Okla. Together they raised their family in Towanda, Kan., where he worked as a test mechanic for Boeing Aircraft for 30 years. The family celebrated his retirement in April 2002 and moved to Anderson later in the year.

He was a member of the Honey Lake Community Baptist Church in Noel, Mo. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Jaquis in April of 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Buchanan of the home; four children, Madena Risenhoover of Castleberry, Fla.; Roland Buchanan of El Dorado, Kan.; Robin McDaniel of Douglass, Kan.; Dennis Buchanan Jr., of Anderson; two brothers, Raymond Buchanan of Rose Hill, Kan., and John Buchanan of Rocky Comfort, Mo.; four sisters, Claudine Richardson of Mulvane, Kan.; Wilda Cornelison of Towanda, Kan.; Shirley Dake of Wheaton, Mo., and Karen LaPlant of Mulvane.; 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Honey Lake Community Baptist Church in Noel with the Rev. David Mullin officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Union Cemetery in Stella, Mo.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, online at www.walker-dowd.com.
