Joseph Sorrell, an old and highly respected citizen, died at his home in the east part of town, Wednesday evening, June 26, 1907, at 7 o'clock after a few days' illness of heart trouble, at the advanced age of 78 years. The funeral was from the house, Friday morning at eight o'clock, brief services being conducted by Rev. S. D. Kendall of the M. E. church. The burial was in the Conkle cemetery north of Luray. Deceased was born in Kentucky but had resided in this, Clark county, Mo., for more than fifty years, all but four or five years of this time on a farm north of Luray. He served in the militia during civil, war and drew a pension. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and took great interest in the meetings of the order, being faithful
in attendance. He never married. One sister and two nieces, Mrs. Rhoda Barnes and Mrs. C. E. King, are the only near
relatives in this city.
