Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, 1983, at the First Baptist Church in Steele for Mrs. Katherine L. Doherty. Rev. Billy Skinner and Rev. Jim Doyle officiated.
Mrs. Doherty was born March 7, 1919, in Parkin, Arkansas, and died March 12, 1983 at the Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville. She was 63. She had been a resident of this community most of her life.

She was the daughter of the late Doc Martin Weaver and Minnie Marrow Weaver. Mrs. Doherty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Steele and also a member of Steele Rebekah Lodge No. 783.

She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Ruth Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee; two brothers, Rev. Maynard Weaver of Augusta, Georgia, and Doc M. Weaver of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Ellis of Gilbert, Arizona, and Mrs. Virginia Adkinson of Monroe, Louisiana; two grandsons, Ronnie and Joe Moore of Knoxville; and two granddaughters, Sharon and Kristi Moore of Knoxville.

Pallbearers were Jerry Terry, Robert Lawrence, Jr., J.W. Neil, C.T. Bingham, Sr., Bill Smithson, and Jack Brooks.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
