Mrs. Theoda G. Nocks of Pomona, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, while at the West Vue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Plains, MO. Born on June 15, 1921, in Hiwasse, AR, to Glenn C. and Almeda Irene (Jones) Smith, she was 89 years old.
Mrs. Nocks grew up in Troy, KS. On Feb. 2, 1940, she married Elmer L. Nocks and to this union, three children were born. Theoda worked at Conway-Winters for about 10 years. She was a member of the Rabbit Association for many years. She server her Lord and Savior while she worked at the Howell Baptist Association during the 1980s and 1990s. Some of the associational positions she held were WMU director and WMU prayer coordinator, she was an executive board member and Messenger from Immanuel Baptist Church in Pomona, where was a member since Dec. 15, 1971. She also drove for SMTS for many years, transporting people to their many appointments. It was said by her family that she enjoyed "doing for others, no matter who they were." Her greatest joy came from attending church and being with her church family. Theoda will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Nocks was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer Nocks; her two sons, Glenn Emory Nocks, and Francis Wayne Nocks; three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Irene Nocks Pringle and her husband Leroy of Willow Springs; nine grandchildren, Betty Reagon of TN, Jerry McClanahand of KY, Jody McClanahand, Rebecca Havens and her husband Tom, all of Willow Springs, Ronnie Pringle of Summersville, and Roy Linn Pringle of West Plains. She is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, October 4, at the Willow Funeral Home. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
