Ellen Irene Sullivan, 73, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (September 17, 2008) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Samuel E. and Eithel P. (Dudgeon) Adkins, she was born June 12, 1935 in Kirksville, Missouri. On August 28, 1953 she was united in marriage to Donald Dean Ledford and to this union four sons were born. On December 28, 1978 she married Charles E. Sullivan who survives.

Ellen is also survived by three sons, Donnie Gene Ledford of Brashear, MO, Ronnie Dean Ledford of Tar Heel, N.C. and Ricky Dee Ledford of Novinger, MO; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Stanley James of Brashear, MO; ten grandchildren, Jason Ashley Ledford, Toby Allen Ledford and wife Hillary, Jessica Lynn Schaffner and husband Terry, Heather Dawn Clark, Tare Michael Ledford, Ryan Lee Ledford, Patrick Steven Ledford, Daisy Irene Ledford, Jeremy Charles Sullivan and Jennifer Lynn Sullivan; seven great-grandchildren, Payton, Kyler, Jabelyn, Dayln, Riley, Hope and Faith as well as one cousin, Ellis Newcomer of Kirksville, MO and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Lee Ledford and one step-son, Robert Charles Sullivan.

Ellen was a graduate from the Brashear High School with the Class of 1953. She resided most of her life in Kirksville, Missouri, where she worked in several area restaurants. She and her husband owned the Koffee Kup for nine years before owning the Shamrock Restaurant ten years. She and her husband then managed the Travelers Hotel for over two years until it sold. Ellen later retired from restaurant work and was last employed for Twin Pines Adult Care Center thirteen years.

After her retirement, Ellen continued and loved visiting with residents of the nursing home.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (September 20, 2008) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend Ralph Wheeler officiating. Music selections "One Day At A Time" and "In The Garden" will be provided by Twila Jones who will be accompanied by Donald Cooper. Interment will follow the service at Jewel Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.

Visitation is in progress and family will receive friends this evening, Friday (September 19, 2008) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Casket bearers will be Richard Sullivan, Tare Ledford, Pat Ledford, Toby Ledford, Terry Schaffner and Dusty Billington. Honorary bearers will be Ryan Ledford and Jason Ledford.
