John Peer, age 93, of Chillicothe, formerly of Linneus, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
A funeral service will be held Deember 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield, with Pastor Ted Stockwell officiating. Burial will be in Wheeling Cemetery in Wheeling. Visitation will be held Thursday and the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Memorials to Wheeling Cemetery may be left at or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P O Box 496, Brookfield, Missouri 64628.
John Raymond, son of John and Ethel (Hoskins) Peer, was born June 15, 1920 in St Joseph, Mo. On October 11, 1942, he married Bette Coburn who preceded him in death on February 19, 2005.
John worked as an accountant for Amarada Oikl Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1958, he returned to Missouri and began farming. He was a member of the American Legion Post 538 in Linneus. He was a US ARMY AIR FORCE Veteran and served during World War II.
Survivors include a son, David Peer and wife, Joetta of Less's Summit, a daughter, Shari Miller and husband, Joe of Rapid City, South Dakota; two grandchildren, John Peer and Jamie Fields, and one nephew, Joe Pfeifer.
His parents, his wife, and ,one sister, Maxine Pfeifer, also preceded him in death.
