Ira Leroy Fields, 85, Springfield, passed away Monday, January 5, after an extended illness. He was born December 16, 1923, to Roy and Julia (Holley) Fields, who predeceased him.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Fields; and his son, Danny Fields.
Survivors include his children, Ellen Shipley, Mary Batson, Brenda Baughman and Rodger Fields; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Mary Stubblefield and Lenore Burgess; and a multitude of good friends.
Services for Mr, Fields will be held today at 2 p.m., in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Midtown, 1635 N. Benton, Springfield. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery, north of Springfield.
