September 16, 1915, Cassville Republican - Mrs. Gleason Dead: Mrs. Eliza Gleason died at her home at Mineral Springs, Thursday, September 9, at the age of 78 years. Mrs. Gleason was born in Union County, Ohio, in 1837. She was married to Saul Gleason May 22, 1869. To them three children were born. One daughter who died at six years of age and two sons Charles and Wallace. Charles is now the only member of the family living. Mr. Gleason and son Wallace, both died in 1902. Charles lives at Coldwater, Kan. The family had been residents of this county since 1885. Mrs. Gleason had been for many years a devoted member of the Methodist Church and was an estimable woman.

September 16, 1915, Cassville Republican - Mineral Springs News: Mrs. Eliz Gleason, a pioneer and highly respected citizen of the county died at her home in Mineral Thursday, Sept 9. She is survived by a son, Charley, of Coldwater, Kansas and a brother in Ohio. Funeral services were conducted at the church by Bro. Riddle and her body laid to rest in the cemetery nearby, Friday. Charley was with her during her last hours. He returned to his family.

September 23, 1915, Cassville Republican - Mrs. Eliza Gleason died at her home in Mineral Springs, Thursday Sept. 9th, 1915, after a week of severe illness of heart trouble. She was born in Union County, Idaho, July 1, 1837 (death certificate says Broadway, OH). She was 78 years, 2 months and 8 days old. Her maiden name was Smith. She was married to Saul Gleason at North Lewisburg, Ohio, Mar. 22, 1869. To them were born three children, the oldest a daughter, Frankie, died when 6 years old. The other two, Charley and Wallace, with her parents, moved to Barry County Missouri in 1885, 30 years ago. Since then Mrs. Gleason has had her continuous residence on their farm near Mineral Springs. She has been a well known and respected citizen of this community these many years. Since the death of her husband and son, Wallace, 13 years ago, Mrs. Gleason has lived a somewhat lonely life but she was of a friendly sociable disposition, always glad to see her neighbors and friends and welcome them to her home. She had been a member of the Methodist Church 58 years, having united with that church at North Lewisburg, Ohio, in 1857 when 20 years of age. Her regard for the Bible and the Christian faith was deep and reverent and she expressed a comforting hope in God, and a future life. Mrs. Gleason is survived by one brother, Charles Smith, age 82 years of Peoria, Ohio and other relatives and her son, Charley, for some years past one of the leading teachers of this locality but now a resident of Kansas. He was with his mother much to her comfort in her last illness.
