Opal M. Spencer, 81, Stark City, MO, died at 11:00 pm, Sunday, March 16, 2008 at her home, following a short illness. Opal was born May 7, 1926 at Goodman, MO, the daughter of Henry and Effie Williams. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked as a floral designer at Neosho Floral for many years and participated in many area craft shows. She had attended Splitlog Baptist Church. Opal and Junior Spencer were married on Nov. 13, 1945 at Pineville, MO and he survives. Additional survivors include a son, Larry Spencer and wife, Cathy, Stark City, MO; a daughter, Anna Shaw and husband, Al, Neosho; three grandchildren, Lori Ruark, and husband, Greg; Chad Spencer and wife, Tracy and Jennifer Lasswell; 4 great grandchildren, Brad, Jordan and Garrett Spencer and Spencer Ruark; and a sister, Laverne Merritt, Topeka, KS. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Louie "Junior" E. Spencer, Jr, 81, Stark City, died Sat., Mar. 14, 2009 at Freeman Neosho Hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Anderson, MO, to Louie E. Spencer Sr. and Anna Alice (Stalker) Spencer.
Mr. Spencer was a lifelong area resident and a retired crops and cattle farmer. He was a lifelong member of the Coon Hunters Assoc and loved to fish.
Junior and Opal Mae Williams were married Nov. 13, 1945 in Pineville, MO. She preceded him in death March 16, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Spencer, and a sister, Vietta Stow.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cathy Spencer, Stark City; a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Al Shaw, Neosho; three sisters, Donna Weston, Neosho, Luanna White, Antioch, CA, and Frances Moore, Elwood, IN; 3 grandchildren, Lori (Greg) Ruark, Chad (Tracy) Spencer, and Jennifer Lasswell; and 4 great grandchildren, Brad, Jordan, and Garrett Spencer, and Spencer Ruark.
