FUNERAL SERVICES FOR RAY W. MEDEARIS HELD SUNDAY
Ray Wilson Medearis wan born on July 14, 1914 son of Joe and Gladys Medearis, at Sareoxie, Mo., and died Dec. 1, 1944, at the age of 30 years, four months, 17 days.
When Ray was a year old he moved with his parents to Rockwell City, Iowa, where he lived until 1923. He then came back to Missouri and lived on a farm two years. He then came to Appleton City and attended the old high school.
When a young man, Ray went to Hume, Mo., where he married Wanita Wyland in 1935. To this union one son, Bobby, was born. Bobby died in 1937.
From Hume Ray moved to Modesto, Calif., where in 1938, he was injured. He then moved back to Mt. Vernon, Mo., and entered the sanatorium there. After six years of the best medical care and everything that loving hands could do, Ray died on December 1st.
He leaves to mourn his death his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Medearis of Fort Gibson, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Evon Reed of Rockville and Mrs. Anda Ellegrad of Kansas City; two brothers, Pfc. Wilbur Medearis, Comp Ellis, Ill.; Ralph Medearis of ful disposition and never gave up hope of his recovery. (as written)
Ray's friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He was of a cheerful disposition and never gave up hope of his recovery.
In 1930 Ray was converted and joined the Baptist church of Appleton City and remained a member at this church until his death.
The funeral services were held from the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, December 3, conducted by Rev. R.E. Schwart.
Pall bearers were Wm, Blackman, Floyd Cook, Jack Reed, Howard Francis, Wm. Johannigmeier, Ernest Reed.
Interment was made in the Appleton City cemetery under the direction of the Frank Lee Funeral Home.
