Grover Cleveland Blocker, 72 years old, of Ancell, head bookkeeper for the Saveway Oil Co., died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at University Medical Center in Columbia. He was transferred there on July 15 from Southeast Missouri Hospital where he was admitted on June 2.

The body is at the Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home in Cape where services will be conducted at 3 Saturday afternoon by the Rev. Leland Butler, a Methodist minister of Chaffee. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. Blocker was born January 28, 1888, at Chaffee and attended Wylie School. He was a graduate of Chillicothe Business College.

On May 10, 1910, he married Laura Schwettman. She died on December 23, 1949. On June 12, 1957, he married Eula Riley at Fredericktown.

Mr. Blocker was a bookkeeper since early manhood. He was employed for 30 years at the Scott County Milling co., in Oran. He then worked for the Kelso Oil Co., in Cape until the office closed some years ago. Later he worked at the Sikeston Home Oil Co., and then went with the Safeway Co. in Ancell. Mr. Blocker was a member of the Methodist Church of Fornfelt and the Masonic Lodge of Morley.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Eula Blocker of Ancell, a teacher in the Kelly High School near Benton, a daughter, Mrs. Allen Hubbard of Sikeston, two sisters, Mrs. Ross Howell of Roseville, Mich., and Mrs. J.H. Norrid of Warren, Mi, four brothers, Webster Blocker of Chaffee, Jerome of Oran B.C. Blocker of Detroit, Mi, and Earl Blocker of League City, TX and one granddaughter. A son Cecil died in 1953.
