Sikestonian Found Dead Near Shoe Factory

Friday about 11 p.m. Mrs. Mary Travelstead, of Charleston, who had been the dinner guest of Mrs. Mae Martin. owner of the Powder Puff Beauty Shop, 515 Greer St., went across the street to get in her car to return home and was startled to see it man lying beside the car, close to the wire fence encircling the International Shoe Co. plant. She ran back and called Mrs. Martin and O.H. Fitch, the latter's brother here from Flint, Mich., who went to see what was the trouble. They thought the man was drunk and called the police.

The call was taken by Chief Harold Wallace and Officer George Davis who went to the scene and recognized the man as Grover Cecil Blocker. They had started to put him in a car when Chief Wallace discovered he was not drunk, but dead.

Coroner Clyde Poe was called and said Blocker died of a heart attack.

Grover Cecil Blocker was born Oct, 27, 1911 at Holland, Mo., and he had been formerly employed at the International Shoe Company. He is survived by his father, G.E. Blocker; a sister, Mrs. V. Allen Hubbard, of St. Louis and a niece.
